Well, summer is officially here. We
had the hottest June that we have seen in a while. I hope that it
stimulated business a bit. It seems that in spite of the highest gas
prices of all time, the summer driving season, as we know it, is
creeping up on us. More vehicles on the road should mean more
business for towers. The typical motorist does not maintain their
vehicle, as they should, and that results in overheated vehicles,
breakdowns and blowouts, all requiring assistance from our industry.
Do not forget to maintain your own fleet vehicles, especially the
cooling system, during this time of year. Debris can be caught in
between the radiator cooling fins or in between the intercooler and
radiator. Another major problem can be debris caught in between the
air conditioner condenser and radiator. Be sure to inspect your
vehicles. The last thing you want is your own vehicles breaking down
in this weather.
Another thing I would like to bring to our membership’s attention
is that we have notified the DMV with a request for a rate increase.
We are in the process of supplying all the requested information and
preparing for a formal presentation and public hearing. We are being
optimistic that the process will be shorter than it has been in the
past.
In closing, I would like to say enjoy your summer and do not forget
to set aside some time to spend with your family and friends. There
will not be a membership meeting in August for summer break, but
mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 10th, the Annual
Vendor’s Night, it is winding up to be one of the best ones yet.
Sincerely,
Fulvio Tamburro
President
